Barry Herring is a Victoria-based photographer, whose innovative images explore potentials within the traditions of photographic paper art. His work intersects the media of wet-darkroom black and white photography, hand printed digital images, and paper productions.
His current work in the darkroom explores portraiture, examining partial and multiple fragments of people. Concurrent with darkroom work, he is printing on alternate surfaces, producing soft digital images in dialogue with media such as mylar and hand-made etching stock. Recent paper art productions include folded structures and more traditional books and boxes.
