This coming season the Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society will tackle a concert version of H.M.S Pinafore, once again helmed by George Corwin. Pinafore, subtitled The Lass that Loved a Sailor, tells the tale of the beautiful Captain’s daughter who is betrothed to Sir Joseph Porter but is in love with the lowly sailor Ralph Rackstraw. This tortured love story is soon turned around in Gilbert and Sullivan tradition and ends in mistaken identities, silly plot twists, and hearty fun. Corwin is known for leading both orchestral and choral groups to excellence in sound and he returns with the Civic Orchestra to give this concert version a grand feel. The society fosters young talent and a concert version of fifty singers allows returning and new members the rare opportunity to take on singing alongside a fifty piece orchestra. Get your tickets early to ensure your chance to experience superb music by lovers of Gilbert and Sullivan.
