Carvers come from Western Canada and the Northwest United States to compete for awards in various skill levels from novice through expert. This year\, 2011 Ward World Champion Saskatchewan carver Cam Merkle will be the guest instructor for a three-day pre-show seminar on carving a Stellers Jay; as well\, world renowned artist Mark Hobson will give a three day painting seminar on painting wildlife with acrylics.
