Blue Wave Printmakers

MONOTYPE FOR BEGINNERS
A monotype is a unique printed image created by the transfer of hand-applied ink from a plate to paper. Aimed at those with little or no experience in printmaking, this one-day workshop will introduce you to basic monotype techniques such as mixing inks, applying ink to the monotype plate, using additive and subtractive techniques, stencils and templates, opaque colour and transparent glazes. Working with non-toxic soy based inks, which come in fabulous artist quality colours and offers soap and water cleanup, you will experience the joy of printmaking, and learn how easy it is to create a colourful mono print.

Multi Colour Reduction Linocut ( a one day workshop)
Create a two or three colour image in a small edition, using basic printmaking tools and techniques. Learn how to design and cut the linoblock to create values and textures, how to mix custom colours, ink and burnish the block, and register the paper for perfect overlays. We will discuss the long standing traditions of signing and numbering of prints and options for presentation.
