Drum Designed and painted by Richard Cochrane:
Diameter = 22inches.

Built by Marcel Russ.

This drum design was made for a Haida singer/drummer. His crests are the Thunderbird and Raven he is of Haida (Raven), and Kwakiult (Thunderbird) ancestry.

The Thunderbird is hovering above the Killer Whale (his prey), which is in the shape of the Moon, hence Killer Whale Moon. The Killer Whale Moon has a labret in her lip, representing that the Moon is the Grandmother. The Raven is stealing the light and is at the bottom of the drum escaping.

This Raven design is called a Transforming/ed Raven. There are two raven's in this Raven design one is a young Raven the other is mature after having transformed. The young raven is the beak and nostrils/nose holding the light. The older is the full Raven together with the young Raven as the inner child.
