My sandhill crane is a new work that incorporates my love of miniature art and my love of drawing. This piece is part of my series on local birds. I was able to see the sandhill cranes at Riefel Bird Sanctuary this winter and I immediately fell in love with them and had to draw them. This piece was my first and I am now working on a much larger piece. I felt that the little touch of red was needed for their distinctive markings.

I found this truck buried in the back of a cow pasture out near Harrison Hot Springs and after crawling through the bushes I managed to get some great pictures. I loved the old Ford truck with its crank start and wooden spokes in the wheels. I was very excited to paint it and of course give it some friends for company.
