Fine art, landscape, seascape, architectural, eclectic, urban and nature photographer Jacqui Barley was born in London, England. Her family emigrated to Canada where she grew up as a native of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. She was raised surrounded by the ocean, mountains and lush west coast forests outdoors and exposed to her parents' love of the arts and books indoors. An early inspiration was the book "The Art of Leonardo da Vinci", a gift from her brother.
Her ability to create visual imagery was nurtured by her mother's creativity with textiles and her father, an architect and enthusiastic photographer. This led to a twenty-two year career in Montreal and Toronto in film and television. Starting from costuming her artistic realm expanded to include props, set design and production. She discovered the joy of capturing a fleeting moment on film with her first "point and shoot" Olympus SLR camera in 1990.
