British Columbia Travel Guide
The unofficial BC Travel & Tourism Guide
If you are looking to combine the qualities of quiet mountain retreat with first class facilities, Panorama is the place to be. Winter or summer, the short drive up a narrow valley from the Columbia River town of Invermere, takes visitors deep into the Purcell Mountains.

Once at the top, the scenery is incomparable, with glaciated peaks of the Columbia Mountains stretching to the north, south and west, and the Rocky Mountains rising to the east. Significant areas of these mountain ranges are protected in a system of national and provincial parks, and much of the surrounding landscape beckons with untracked wilderness.

Panorama Mountain Village sits nestled at the base of a world-class ski area. With the third biggest vertical descent available in Canada (1200m), 11.5 square kilometres of terrain, dry snow, excellent high-speed lift system, and over 20 km of Nordic trails, many people come just for the skiing and boarding. Other activities include ice-fishing, snowshoeing, dog-sledding, and snowmobile tours. The serene atmosphere of the village lends itself to simply reading a book by a fire, or soaking in a slope-side hot tub. Owned by Intrawest, the developers of Whistler, the village tastefully offers very comfortable accommodations and every amenity - without the business and haste of many resorts.

In summer, Panorama is an ideal base from which to enjoy quiet walks through fragrant forests and by clear streams. The renowned Greywolf Golf Course is ranked in the top 100 courses worldwide (outside the US) and ranked second in Canada’s best new golf courses in the year it opened). Summer activities include fantastic downhill mountain biking and trail riding (there are 30 km of runs over 380 vertical metres of lift-serviced terrain); hiking, ATV tours, horseback riding, tennis, mini-golf, river rafting and kayaking as well as fishing, and alpine sightseeing by chairlift. At the end of a busy day in mountains, you can relax in the cool of the evening in the hot pool complex.
