Lee McIntyre holds a Certificate in Fine Art from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. Her strong belief in the transformative power of art lies at the heart of her own creative process.

“I really enjoy the physicality of working with texture and building three-dimensionality into my artworks. There’s something about how the paint and the texture interact that reminds me of the duality of our nature; the energy of the spirit trickling into the cracks and crevices of our physical being."

“My work explores themes of transformation and self-evolution. I’m fascinated with how we make meaning of this experience called ‘life’. Whether the concepts come from the spiritual disciplines or from mathematics or science I am inspired by the challenge to express the eloquence of those ideas in artistic form."

"I love to get messy when I work and the whole experience is very kinesthetic and sensual. I want to feel the coolness of the spackle on my hands and hear the splat splat splat as I mix paints. Colour is so charged with emotion…each of those little blobs of paint wanting to impart its own nuance of meaning."

"Ultimately for me, creating art is like being in this amazing living laboratory. Colours and ideas, equations and textures, beliefs and shapes all bubbling together until they somehow order themselves into a painting and also into new ways of understanding and experiencing life.”
