Winter vacationers take another look at BC

A winter getaway in BC holds promise of fresh powdery snow, stunning mountain peaks, crackling fires in cozy inns, gourmet dinners and activities for the whole family. Or does it? In 2010 more than ever before, winter vacationers fear overpriced accommodations, long drives on wintery roads, and crowded slopes and trails. To help weary vacation-hopefuls, GoBC.ca has made it easier to access information and plan BC winter getaways, ranging from the popular picks to the well-kept secrets.

GoBC.ca offers up-to-date snow reports for each BC ski resort at-a-glance, along with a host of other winter activities and events, accommodations large and small, maps and travel information. “There’s a sense out there that the whole BC winter season will be claimed by the Olympics and to get away, you have to fly south. In fact, BC has many ski resorts as well as sleepy winter-wonderland getaways – with optional hot tub, or even hot springs.” says owner Sibylle Zilker from GoBC Arts and Cultural Tourism.

To make vacation planning even more fun, GoBC.ca stays away from online sales and advertising and instead provides straightforward information for all regions of the province. This includes direct contact information for most accommodations – a welcome feature for families needing an extra bed for the most junior ski bunny, or anyone else who has a question for their host before making a booking.

GoBC Arts and Cultural Tourism Inc. is a Victoria-based independent business. GoBC’s website at www.GoBC.ca invites visitors to discover BC’s diverse arts communities and the province’s rich cultural and natural heritage and recreation opportunities.
