Securing Your Customer’s Personal Data for Reservations
All reservations staff, and even a two room bed & breakfast, should take extra precautions when accepting booking requests through the internet. Ensure that after your business is able to confirm a reservation can be made, that the credit card information is NOT requested via email. Fax and phone calls are the most direct and safe forms of accepting credit card information. Emails have a tendency to get forwarded or can be nabbed by savvy internet pirates. Ask customers to contact your business directly or to confirm with a faxed number and signature. Your customers may not realize it, but if they did – they would probably thank you for it.
Just another Tourism Tip from GoBC.
