European market still on the rise
We are already experiencing an increase in European traffic as European travelers are looking for their next vacation trip in fall or winter. As published by Tourism BC, the European market has increased by 5.7%, while the American market has decreased by 4.3% compared to last year. Keep in mind European's have up to 35 paid vacation days a year. So they need to plan their holidays well in advance. And more than 150 million Europeans speak German, which makes it the largest spoken language in Europe. Because of the higher cost on plane tickets to travel to BC during high season, Europeans attend to travel to British Columbia in the off season as the flight costs are considerably less expensive, so they have more money to spend here. As shown in Tourism BC's report the European market had increased by 13% in the first quarter of 2007. With the Euro being so strong travel to BC will be more attractive than ever.
