Only 25 minutes outside of Victoria, Mill Bay is an easy find off the island highway, which provides great look out point through the “Malahat” portion of the drive.

Mill Bay represents some prime views off the shores of Vancouver Island towards the mainland. One distinct land marks is Mt. Baker’s enormous white, mountain peak. Additionally, the bay offers views over towards the Saanich Peninsula of Victoria and the ‘capital of craft’ Saltspring Island. The area around Mill Bay is great for camping, enjoying balcony water views from a cozy bed and breakfast or tenting over night in the summer.

During a stop over or a two day visit travelers on Vancouver Island can enjoy crabbing, shimping, fishing, regattas, water skiing, and walking the parks or shoreline to encounter some of the island's local wildlife, which often includes viewing; orca, seals, otters and their babies, sea anemones, lots of fish, eagles, kingfishers and great blue herons.

Surrounding areas:
- Duncan offers one of the largest accessible parks of First Nation totems
- on the Malahat Drive the vistas are wonderful
- the areas acclaimed restaurants and activities are given markers along the roadside
- Bamberton has more wilderness parks to explore
- stop at various local wineries
- closer towards Victoria, the Goldstream Provincial park is where salmon run (autumn)and the stream is densely forested with well trodden paths throughout 379 hectares.

History:
Soon after Victoria became an stabled community on Vancouver Island explorers and business men combed the island looking for opportunity. One of the largest producing (small) mills resides in the harbour of Mill Bay (hence the name). Since then, the old logging road is now a full blown commuter highway that allowed this community grow into an area rich with fishing, parks and harbour life.
