A colourful, light hearted and whimsical approach is what Kena wishes to express in her mixed media, out of the box, "wallart".

Generally she explores her art in a series of paintings. The examples above and the two below are the Vessels & Flowers series.

This series involves the use of texture, the interaction of shapes and the addition of metal flowers which take her artwork outside the canvas, creating a 3 dimensionality to her work.

The vessel could be anything, a simple shape, a purse, a shoe, a boot, a mouth, a wineglass, a fishbowl, the list goes on. The metal is mild steel which is plasma cut, welded, bent & then torched to add a patina to it.

Her new series depicts whimsical creatures indulging in wine, why not living in Wine country it just seems logical! Kena shares the metal shop with her husband, Lawrence Cormier, a sculptor. If no one is home when you come by to visit, please feel free to stroll the sculpture garden.
