Powell River is 135 kilometers northwest of Vancouver city. This seaside wonderland was notably named the Cultural Capital of Canada 2004.

History:
The legends and lives of the Coast Salish First Nations band of Sliammon preoccupied the lands along the shores of today’s Powell River for centuries. Today, visitors who travel to Powell River can arrange to take tours of the local salmon hatchery and the narrated tours of the Salish Culture.
